Most common consonants that Spanish speakers pronounce wrongly in English.
Most common consonants that Spanish speakers pronounce wrongly in English.
This lesson will be about some pronunciation of consonants that native speakers of the Spanish language tend to mispronounce. Sometimes by doing this, the communication is not clear, and the listener may misinterpret what the person really wants to say. For instance, the letter v is most of the time pronounced as b, and in English we have several words that are basically the same except for those letters; for example veer and beer, very and berry, and so on.
The purpose of this lesson is to give an available tool for those trouble consonants. This can be useful not only for beginners, but for advanced students who, even though they handle the language with ease, may have learnt the pronunciation wrongly and need to make it right.
Enjoy the lesson.
Now watch the following video, play it again and try to repeat the words that are in it. Do the sounds you make sound similar to the ones in the video?
Get a small mirror and see if you are using your teeth, tongue and lips in an identical way as the clips in the video. Repeat it as many times as you wish to make sure you’re doing it right.
Write down a list of words that contains these consonants. Open a page in your Wiki called Pronunciation. Make a video of your mouth while pronouncing these words. If you're unable to make a video, you may record those words with your own voice using AudioPal, iSpeech or any other of those tools.
